Update on Relief Program

Yesterday, I discussed with our mayor that we needed to tell the public that we had enough product. He agreed, but instead of doing his job....he told me to talk with the woman who had started the relief effort. She wasn't willing to tell the people that we had collected enough. NOTE: The mayor should have told her that this was enough. He shouldn't have sent me to do his job...I didn't even know who the woman was. She has managed to hijack the entire city government and get them to open this old manufacturing plant at taxpayer cost, turn on all the utilities, get actual signs made (the street sign kind) pointing out the relief center, and they are still trying to find places to take over 10 to 15 semi loads of goods. They have a committment for three. This is astounding to me.

There are elderly who don't need to be sweating in this old manufacturing plant. There are disabled people that are spending time sorting clothes, carrying boxes, etc. It's unreal that the mayor won't for the sake of these people tell the truth. Or at least cover up their lack of planning by telling people there is enough product. They are now begging people to take this product from them. A congressman is involved in this now trying to find places to take this. He has also told the mayor to contract out the trucking. He has promised reimbursement for all of this to the city. (The big federal dollar windfall being put to good use.)

Obviously we have a mayor much more reflective of Nagin in New Orleans. No real leadership. He gives in to the special interest people in this city. He has run this city into a massive debt. Now I know why....he can't say no.

More later.
